Revolution Revisited
REVOLUTION REVISITED BY KIM KOMENICH Ayala Museum, Makati Avenue c, Makati City, February 21, 2011Revolution Revisited or Rev-Rev is a “then” and “now” photographic exhibition and presentation of a short (45 to 47 minutes) documentary film. The photo exhibit featured 25 of the more than 10,000 photos taken by Kim Komenich during the years leading up to and including the People Power Revolution (1984 to 1986). Included also were some photos he took that were awarded the 1897 Pulitzer Prize for Spot News Photography.
From August 2010 until early February 2011, Kim Komenich located the subject of the photos and he photographed them again, with the intention of placing the contemporary image next to the 1980’s image with a caption containing the person’s story. The exhibit premiered last Feb. 21, 2011 at the Ayala Museum in celebration of the 25th Anniversary of the People Power Revolution.
A documentary film was simultaneously shown and it featured interviews with the subjects of the photographs in the exhibit. Instead of being an all-encompassing look at everything that happened during the People Power, the film became a collection of impressions and anecdotes of the key personalities who played major roles during the People Power Revolution.
